Description
Crispy edged smashed chicken burgers topped with melted cheddar and fresh parsley, cooked in a hot skillet for maximum flavor and juiciness. A quick and satisfying twist on classic smash burgers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 4 whole burger buns
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, gently combine ground chicken, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and half of the chopped parsley until just mixed.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and loosely shape into balls.
- Heat olive oil in a cast iron or heavy skillet over medium high heat.
- Place one portion into the hot skillet and immediately press down firmly with a spatula to form a thin patty. Repeat with remaining portions, cooking in batches if necessary.
- Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the edges are golden and crispy.
- Flip each patty carefully, top with a slice of cheddar cheese, and cook another 3 to 4 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit and the cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with the remaining chopped parsley.
- Place the patties inside lightly toasted burger buns and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use a sheet of parchment between the spatula and chicken when smashing to prevent sticking.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan to maintain high heat and crispy edges.
- Toast the burger buns lightly to prevent sogginess.
- Cooked patties can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently in a skillet.
