Description

Crispy edged smashed chicken burgers topped with melted cheddar and fresh parsley, cooked in a hot skillet for maximum flavor and juiciness. A quick and satisfying twist on classic smash burgers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 4 whole burger buns
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, gently combine ground chicken, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and half of the chopped parsley until just mixed.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and loosely shape into balls.
  3. Heat olive oil in a cast iron or heavy skillet over medium high heat.
  4. Place one portion into the hot skillet and immediately press down firmly with a spatula to form a thin patty. Repeat with remaining portions, cooking in batches if necessary.
  5. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the edges are golden and crispy.
  6. Flip each patty carefully, top with a slice of cheddar cheese, and cook another 3 to 4 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit and the cheese is fully melted.
  7. Remove from heat and sprinkle with the remaining chopped parsley.
  8. Place the patties inside lightly toasted burger buns and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a sheet of parchment between the spatula and chicken when smashing to prevent sticking.
  • Avoid overcrowding the pan to maintain high heat and crispy edges.
  • Toast the burger buns lightly to prevent sogginess.
  • Cooked patties can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently in a skillet.
