Description

A warm, cheesy pull-apart style loaf filled with creamy cottage cheese, garlic, herbs, mozzarella, and Parmesan, then baked until golden and irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large French bread loaf, about 16 ounces
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded, divided
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, finely grated
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet or small tray with foil.
  2. In a mixing bowl, stir together the cottage cheese, softened butter, 3/4 cup of the mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic, parsley, chives, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper until creamy and evenly combined.
  3. Place the bread loaf on the prepared baking sheet. Cut deep slices across the loaf about 1 inch apart, making sure not to cut all the way through the bottom.
  4. Spoon the filling into each cut, gently opening the slices as needed. Spread any remaining filling over the top and sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 cup mozzarella.
  5. Loosely cover the loaf with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 to 12 minutes, until the cheese is melted, golden, and the bread edges are lightly crisp.
  7. Let the loaf rest for 5 minutes before slicing or pulling apart to serve warm.

Notes

  • Drain the cottage cheese briefly if it seems very wet.
  • Do not slice all the way through the bottom of the loaf.
  • For extra warmth, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven for the best texture.
