Description

Crispy air fryer feta coated in seasoned breadcrumbs, golden on the outside and warm and creamy inside. A simple Milanese style dish that makes the perfect appetizer or light meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 block feta cheese, about 200 grams
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour, about 60 grams
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs, about 100 grams
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, lightly sprayed or brushed
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 whole lemon, cut into wedges for serving


Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat the air fryer to 190°C for about 3 minutes.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Place flour in one shallow bowl. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs with dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Pat the feta block dry. Dredge it in flour, coating all sides. Dip into the beaten eggs, then press firmly into the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Lightly spray or brush the breaded feta with olive oil. Place it gently into the air fryer basket.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown and crisp on the outside.
  6. Finishing Touches: Carefully remove from the air fryer and let rest for 2 to 3 minutes to set.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Slice gently and serve warm with fresh lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Chill the breaded feta for 15 minutes before cooking to help the coating stick.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch if desired.
  • Do not add too much salt since feta is naturally salty.
  • Reheat leftovers in the air fryer for 3 to 4 minutes to restore crispness.
