Description

Easy Bow Tie Pasta Lasagna is a simplified version of the traditional lasagna, using bow tie pasta instead of noodles, layered with a savory meat sauce, ricotta cheese, and melted mozzarella for a hearty, comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound bow tie pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the bow tie pasta according to the package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  5. Stir in the marinara sauce, water, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to combine.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese. Mix until smooth and set aside.
  7. In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Add a layer of bow tie pasta, followed by a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture. Repeat the layers, finishing with the meat sauce on top.
  8. Top the lasagna with the remaining mozzarella cheese and bake, uncovered, for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the lasagna rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can add vegetables like spinach or zucchini to the meat sauce for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • For a lighter version, use ground turkey and reduce the amount of cheese.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the microwave or oven.
