- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 0.25 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the Camembert wheel on a flat surface and drizzle the top with honey. Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves and black pepper.
- Lay the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
- Place the prepared Camembert in the center of the pastry.
- Fold the pastry up and over the cheese, sealing the edges tightly underneath.
- Transfer seam side down onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Beat the egg and brush it evenly over the pastry.
- Lightly score the top for decoration if desired.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
- Allow to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
Notes
- Do not remove the rind from the Camembert, it helps maintain structure while baking.
- Chill the wrapped cheese for 10 minutes before baking to help it hold its shape.
- Serve immediately while the center is soft and molten.
- Reheat leftovers gently in a 350°F oven for about 8 minutes.
