Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Cut the cold cubed butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the whole milk and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix. The dough will be slightly sticky.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing slightly apart.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter immediately after baking if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- Keep butter very cold for the best fluffy texture.
- Do not overmix the dough to prevent dense biscuits.
- For extra flavor, brush with melted butter after baking.
- You can substitute buttermilk for whole milk for a slight tang.
