Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius and grease two 9 inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in mashed bananas and vanilla extract until combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix just until incorporated. Fold in chopped walnuts gently.
- Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cakes cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese and heavy cream together until smooth and fluffy.
- Spread frosting between the cooled cake layers and over the top and sides.
- Garnish with banana slices and additional chopped walnuts if desired, then slice and serve.
