Description

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk, room temperature

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk, starting and ending with the dry mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely before frosting.
