Description

The ultimate nacho recipe featuring crispy tortilla chips layered with seasoned ground beef, refried beans, melted cheddar cheese, and topped with fresh garnishes like sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. Perfect for parties, game nights, or family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 ounces tortilla chips
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 (15 ounce) can refried beans
  • 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup guacamole
  • 1/3 cup sliced olives
  • 1/2 cup fresh salsa
  • 1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 medium jalapeño, sliced or pickled jalapeños
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onion

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Spread tortilla chips evenly onto a 13×18-inch baking sheet.
  2. In a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef for 8–10 minutes until fully cooked and no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add taco seasoning, stir, and cook for 60–90 seconds.
  4. Pour in water and refried beans. Stir to combine and cook for 2–3 minutes until heated through. Keep warm.
  5. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the chips. Add the beef and bean mixture evenly. Top with remaining cheese.
  6. Bake for 5–7 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from oven and top with sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and other desired fresh toppings. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Toast tortilla chips in the oven for 3 minutes before layering to prevent sogginess.
  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting.
  • Add delicate toppings like sour cream and guacamole after baking to keep them fresh.
  • Customize protein with shredded chicken, pulled pork, or plant-based options for dietary preferences.
