Description

Tiramisu Cupcakes combine the classic flavors of tiramisu in a fun, individual-sized cupcake form. With layers of coffee-soaked cake, mascarpone frosting, and a dusting of cocoa powder, these cupcakes are a delicious twist on the traditional Italian dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 tablespoon coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
  6. Once the cupcakes have cooled, use a small spoon or straw to make a small hole in the center of each cupcake. Drizzle the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using) into each hole, allowing the cupcakes to soak up the liquid.
  7. For the frosting, whip the mascarpone, heavy cream, and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form. Pipe the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes using a piping bag or spread it with a spatula.
  8. Dust the tops of the cupcakes with cocoa powder before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra indulgent touch, add a small piece of chocolate or a chocolate chip to the center of each cupcake.
  • To make the cupcakes ahead of time, store them in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze the cupcakes and frosting separately for up to 1 month.
