Description

Smooth, creamy Taco Bell-style nacho cheese sauce you can make at home in minutes. Perfectly spiced, melty, and irresistibly dip-worthy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute until bubbling but not browned.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  4. Continue to cook and stir until the sauce thickens, about 2–3 minutes.
  5. Lower the heat and add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until completely melted and smooth.
  6. Stir in salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  7. Serve warm with tortilla chips or your favorite dippers.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for best results and smooth melting.
  • Adjust spice level by increasing or decreasing cayenne pepper.
  • Add a splash of jalapeño juice or hot sauce for extra zing.
