Ingredients
Scale
- 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon milk, for glaze
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and active dry yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until slightly foamy.
- Add granulated sugar, melted butter, eggs, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough into a large rectangle. Evenly spread diced apples over the surface and drizzle heavy cream on top.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and shape it into a ring on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon milk to form a smooth glaze.
- Drizzle glaze over the slightly warm pastry before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Ensure milk is warm but not hot to properly activate the yeast.
- Allow the pastry to cool slightly before glazing for a thicker finish.
- Use firm apples such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best texture.
