Description

Bold, fiery, and loaded with flavor, these Spicy Nashville-Style Chicken Hoagies feature thin-sliced chicken tossed in hot seasoning, melty pepper jack cheese, spicy mayo, and crisp pickles all wrapped in a toasted hoagie roll — the ultimate spicy sandwich fix.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons oil, divided
  • ¼ cup hot chicken seasoning or Nashville-style spice blend
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon pickle brine
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chipotles (optional)
  • 12 teaspoons of the seasoning blend (from above)
  • 2 hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices pepper jack cheese
  • Pickle slices, for topping
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of oil.
  2. In a bowl, toss thinly sliced chicken with remaining oil and hot chicken seasoning until coated.
  3. Cook chicken in the hot skillet, stirring occasionally, for 3–5 minutes per side until golden and fully cooked. Remove from heat.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix mayonnaise, pickle brine, chipotles (if using), and 1–2 teaspoons of the spice blend to make the spicy mayo.
  5. Toast hoagie rolls if desired. Add a slice of pepper jack to each bottom half, then layer with hot chicken so the cheese melts slightly.
  6. Top with spicy mayo and pickle slices. Close with the top half of the rolls.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Adjust heat by using more or less seasoning and chipotles.
  • To avoid sogginess, toast your rolls before assembling.
  • Use gloves when handling hot spices or chipotles.
  • Leftover chicken works great in tacos, wraps, or salads.
