Ingredients
Scale
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, thinly sliced)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round or springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, oil, milk, and vanilla.
- Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients and stir just until combined.
- Toss apple slices with 1 teaspoon flour and fold gently into the batter.
- Pour into prepared pan and smooth the top. Arrange extra apple slices decoratively on top if desired.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool for 15 minutes, remove from pan, and cool completely on a rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Use room temperature eggs for a smoother batter.
- Tossing apples with flour helps them stay evenly distributed.
- Let the cake rest before slicing for best texture.
- Top with whipped cream, ice cream, or caramel for extra indulgence.
