- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 lb ground beef (or minced meat of choice)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds or poppy seeds, for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened.
- Add minced meat, season with paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares or rectangles.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each pastry square, sprinkle with shredded cheese, and fold over to form a triangle or rectangle. Press edges with a fork to seal.
- Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
- Arrange pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- You can use lamb, turkey, or chicken mince as an alternative to beef.
- Add chopped bell peppers or spinach to the filling for extra flavor and texture.
- Make ahead and freeze unbaked pastries; bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes.
