Description

Salted Honeycrisp Fritters are a delightful combination of sweet Honeycrisp apples, crispy dough, and a hint of sea salt, making them the perfect fall treat with a balance of flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Honeycrisp apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. The batter should be thick but able to hold its shape.
  4. Fold in the diced Honeycrisp apples.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer over medium heat, ensuring the oil reaches 350°F (175°C).
  6. Carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying a few at a time. Fry the fritters for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  7. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fritters and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. While the fritters are still warm, sprinkle with brown sugar and a pinch of sea salt for a sweet and salty finish.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can double-dip the fritters in batter before frying.
  • If you prefer a lighter fritter, use half the amount of brown sugar and add a little honey for sweetness.
  • Serve with a side of caramel sauce or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
