Description
Salted Honeycrisp Fritters are a delightful combination of sweet Honeycrisp apples, crispy dough, and a hint of sea salt, making them the perfect fall treat with a balance of flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 Honeycrisp apples, peeled and diced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. The batter should be thick but able to hold its shape.
- Fold in the diced Honeycrisp apples.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer over medium heat, ensuring the oil reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying a few at a time. Fry the fritters for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the fritters and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- While the fritters are still warm, sprinkle with brown sugar and a pinch of sea salt for a sweet and salty finish.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving, and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can double-dip the fritters in batter before frying.
- If you prefer a lighter fritter, use half the amount of brown sugar and add a little honey for sweetness.
- Serve with a side of caramel sauce or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
