Description

Salami and Cheese Pastry Pockets are flaky, golden pastry pockets filled with savory salami and melted cheese, making for a delicious snack or appetizer that’s easy to make and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
  • 6 slices salami, cut into strips
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface and cut it into 6 equal squares or rectangles, depending on your preferred size.
  3. Place a slice of salami in the center of each pastry square, followed by a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
  4. If using, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the cheese before folding the pastry.
  5. Fold each pastry into a triangle or rectangle, pressing the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch and to ensure they stay closed while baking.
  6. Brush the tops of each pastry pocket with the beaten egg to give them a golden, glossy finish.
  7. Place the pastry pockets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Feel free to add other fillings like olives, peppers, or even a small amount of cream cheese for extra flavor.
  • If you’re looking for a crispier texture, brush the bottom of the pastry with a little olive oil before baking.
  • These can be made ahead and frozen before baking for a quick snack later on. Just bake directly from the freezer.
