- 6 slices salami, cut into strips
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface and cut it into 6 equal squares or rectangles, depending on your preferred size.
- Place a slice of salami in the center of each pastry square, followed by a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
- If using, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the cheese before folding the pastry.
- Fold each pastry into a triangle or rectangle, pressing the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch and to ensure they stay closed while baking.
- Brush the tops of each pastry pocket with the beaten egg to give them a golden, glossy finish.
- Place the pastry pockets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
- Feel free to add other fillings like olives, peppers, or even a small amount of cream cheese for extra flavor.
- If you’re looking for a crispier texture, brush the bottom of the pastry with a little olive oil before baking.
- These can be made ahead and frozen before baking for a quick snack later on. Just bake directly from the freezer.
