- 4 slices of sandwich bread
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 12 slices pepperoni
- 1/4 cup pizza sauce, plus more for dipping
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
Instructions
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place 2 slices of bread, buttered side down, on a skillet over medium heat.
- Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on the unbuttered side of each slice in the pan.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and 6 slices of pepperoni per sandwich.
- Sprinkle with Italian seasoning if using, then top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
- Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 2–3 minutes, then carefully flip and cook the other side until golden and cheese is melted.
- Remove from pan, slice in half, and serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
