Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mix mashed bananas, melted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- In another bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, peanut butter, and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Spread half of the chocolate banana batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Evenly spread the peanut butter cream cheese filling over the batter, keeping it slightly away from the edges.
- Top with the remaining batter and smooth the surface.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes, until the loaf is set and a toothpick inserted into the bread portion comes out mostly clean.
- Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and moisture.
- Allow the loaf to cool fully before slicing for clean layers.
- Tent loosely with foil if the top browns too quickly.
