Description
One-Skillet Honey BBQ Chicken & Rice is a flavorful and easy-to-make dish combining tender chicken breasts, sweet and tangy honey BBQ sauce, and perfectly cooked rice, all cooked together in one pan for a quick weeknight meal.

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup honey BBQ sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then sear in the skillet until browned on both sides (about 3-4 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add diced onion and cook until softened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in rice, chicken broth, water, and honey BBQ sauce; mix well.
- Place the chicken breasts on top of the rice mixture.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes until rice is cooked and chicken is done.
- Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions before serving.
Notes
- Use boneless chicken thighs for juicier meat.
- Adjust honey BBQ sauce quantity to your preferred sweetness level.
- Can be made gluten-free by choosing gluten-free BBQ sauce.
- Add vegetables like bell peppers or peas for extra nutrition.
