Description

Olive Cheese Melts are a savory, melt-in-your-mouth treat with a combination of tangy olives and melted cheese, all sandwiched between buttery, toasted bread.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup pitted green or black olives, chopped
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough or French bread works well)
  • Butter for toasting
  • Optional: extra olives for topping

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the chopped olives, cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic powder, and oregano. Stir until fully combined.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Spread the olive and cheese mixture generously on the unbuttered side of two slices of bread.
  4. Top with the other two slices of bread, buttered side up.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat and toast the sandwiches for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted inside.
  6. Optional: Top with extra chopped olives before serving for added flavor.
  7. Cut the melts in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a more robust flavor, try using a mix of green and black olives.
  • This recipe can also be made with gluten-free bread for a gluten-free version.
  • For an extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the olive mixture.
