Ingredients
Scale
- 20 ounces refrigerated cheese tortellini
- 1 pound ground Italian sausage
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until fully browned. Drain excess fat, then stir in the marinara sauce and let simmer for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Spread a thin layer of sausage sauce on the bottom of the dish. Add the uncooked tortellini in an even layer. Pour the remaining sauce over the tortellini, ensuring they are fully coated. Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan evenly on top.
- Cover tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 to 15 minutes until cheese is melted and lightly golden.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- Ensure all tortellini are well coated in sauce so they cook evenly.
- Let the dish rest before serving to help the layers set.
- You can assemble the dish one day ahead and refrigerate before baking.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
