Description
A hearty layered casserole made with tender sliced potatoes, savory ground turkey, sweet green peas, creamy homemade sauce, and a golden blend of melted mozzarella and cheddar cheese.

- 1 pound ground turkey
- 4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup frozen green peas
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground turkey with diced onion and minced garlic until browned and fully cooked. Season with salt and black pepper. Set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk and chicken broth, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
- Top with half of the cooked turkey mixture, half of the green peas, and pour over part of the sauce.
- Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, turkey, peas, and sauce.
- Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove foil, sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar evenly over the top, and bake uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly and potatoes are fork tender.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

- Allow the sauce to thicken fully before layering.
