Description
A breakfast delight combining fluffy muffin texture with the classic McGriddle flavors, featuring maple syrup and sausage for the perfect start to your day.
Ingredients
Scale
- For the Muffins:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- For the Filling:
- 4 sausage patties
- 4 slices American cheese
- 1 tbsp butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a muffin tin with butter or line with paper liners.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, buttermilk, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly into the muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage patties until fully cooked, about 4-5 minutes per side. Set aside.
- Once the muffins are baked (about 15-18 minutes), remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly.
- Slice the muffins in half and place a sausage patty and a slice of cheese inside each muffin half. Close the muffins and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a little cinnamon or nutmeg to the muffin batter.
- Feel free to use turkey sausage or plant-based sausage for a different twist.
- If you prefer a sweeter McGriddle, drizzle extra maple syrup over the muffins before serving.
