Description

Layered Baked Spaghetti Casserole is a hearty, cheesy twist on classic spaghetti night. With layers of tender noodles, rich meat sauce, and melted cheddar, it’s the ultimate comfort dish perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound dried spaghetti pasta
  • 2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • Two 45-ounce jars marinara or pasta sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1½ cups shredded yellow cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with diced onion and minced garlic until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Spread half of the spaghetti in the baking dish, then layer with half of the sauce mixture and a handful of cheese. Repeat the layers and top with remaining yellow and white cheddar cheese.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

  • Cook pasta slightly underdone so it finishes perfectly in the oven.
  • Drain the beef well to avoid excess grease.
  • For added creaminess, mix a spoonful of ricotta or cream cheese into the sauce.
  • Let casserole rest before serving for clean, layered slices.
