Description

Golden, crispy filo pastry rolls filled with creamy feta cheese, brushed with olive oil, and topped with sesame and black seeds. These savory Mediterranean inspired bites are perfect for entertaining, snacking, or serving as part of a mezze platter.


Ingredients

  • 12 filo pastry sheets
  • 8 ounces feta cheese block, crumbled
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon black seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, crumble the feta cheese and mix with black pepper.
  3. Lay one sheet of filo pastry on a clean surface and lightly brush with olive oil. Place a second sheet on top and brush again.
  4. Cut the layered filo sheets in half lengthwise.
  5. Place a thin line of crumbled feta along one long edge and roll tightly into a slim cigar shape. Repeat with remaining sheets and filling.
  6. Place rolls seam side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush tops lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with sesame and black seeds.
  7. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until golden brown and crisp. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Keep filo pastry covered with a damp towel while working to prevent drying.
  • Do not overfill the rolls to avoid bursting during baking.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350°F for 8 minutes to restore crispness.
  • For added flavor, mix in chopped herbs or a pinch of chili flakes.
