Description

Juicy chicken cubes marinated in spiced yogurt, threaded onto skewers, and grilled until lightly charred and tender. These Easy Chicken Tikka Skewers are smoky, flavorful, and perfect for weeknight dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger root, grated
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine plain yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, grated ginger, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, turmeric, garam masala, salt, black pepper, and vegetable oil. Mix until smooth.
  2. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and toss until fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill pan or outdoor grill over medium high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers, leaving small gaps between each piece.
  5. Place the skewers on the hot grill and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is fully cooked and lightly charred on the edges.
  6. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Marinate overnight for deeper flavor and extra tenderness.
  • Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 20 minutes before grilling to prevent burning.
  • Avoid overcrowding the grill to ensure proper charring.
  • Internal temperature of the chicken should reach 75 degrees Celsius for safe cooking.
