Description

A creamy, briny dip inspired by the flavors of a dirty martini, blended with caramelized onions and shallots for a sweet and savory balance. Rich, smooth, and bold, it is perfect for parties and sharing.


Ingredients

  • Large onion, thinly sliced: 1
  • Shallots, thinly sliced: 2
  • Olive oil or butter: 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar: 1 tablespoon
  • Vodka: 1/4 cup
  • Cream cheese, softened: 8 ounces
  • Sour cream: 1/2 cup
  • Blue cheese crumbles: 1/4 cup
  • Manzanilla olives, chopped: 1/4 cup
  • Olive brine: 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper: 1/4 teaspoon


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion and shallots and cook slowly, stirring often.
  3. Sprinkle in the sugar and continue cooking until deeply golden and caramelized.
  4. Deglaze the pan with vodka, scraping up any browned bits, and let it cook off.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and allow the onions to cool slightly.
  6. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
  7. Stir in blue cheese crumbles, chopped olives, olive brine, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Fold in the cooled caramelized onions and shallots until evenly mixed.
  9. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
