- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook onion and garlic until softened.
- Add ground beef and sausage, breaking up with a spoon, cook until browned and cooked through; drain excess fat.
- Season with oregano, basil, salt, and pepper; stir well.
- Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch deep-dish pie pan.
- Layer half the mozzarella cheese on the crust.
- Spread the meat mixture evenly over the cheese layer.
- Distribute sliced pepperoni over the meat.
- Top with remaining mozzarella and sprinkle Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with second pie crust, seal edges, and cut slits on top to vent.
- Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
