Description

Crispy Shrimp Poppers are bite-sized appetizers featuring tender shrimp stuffed with cream cheese, coated in crispy panko breadcrumbs, and fried to golden perfection.


Ingredients

  • 20 uncooked medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups panko bread crumbs
  • Oil for deep-fat frying

Instructions

  1. Butterfly the shrimp along the outside curves to create a pocket.
  2. Spread about 1 teaspoon of softened cream cheese inside each shrimp.
  3. Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Coat each shrimp first in flour, then dip into eggs, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil in an electric skillet or deep-fat fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Fry shrimp in small batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Discard toothpicks before serving.
