Description

Creamy Parmesan Garlic Shrimp Pasta is a rich yet fresh and vibrant seafood dish that features tender shrimp sautéed with garlic, tossed in a luscious Parmesan cream sauce, and served over al dente pasta. Perfect for quick weeknight dinners or elegant gatherings, it combines bold flavors and creamy textures for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Seasonings

  • 1 lb fresh or thawed shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Sauté Base

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Pasta

  • 8 oz fettuccine or linguine pasta
  • Salt for pasta water

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Peel and devein the shrimp if necessary, mince the garlic finely, and grate fresh Parmesan cheese. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp, season lightly with salt and pepper, and cook about 2 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and keep warm.
  3. Make the Garlic Parmesan Sauce: In the same skillet, add more butter if needed and sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant, avoiding burning. Slowly pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and whisk until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  4. Combine Pasta and Shrimp: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce and toss well to coat every strand. Return the shrimp to the pan and mix thoroughly to infuse the flavors. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the pasta for color and freshness. Serve immediately while warm and creamy for the best taste experience.

Notes

  • Use fresh or fully thawed shrimp for best texture and flavor.
  • Do not overcook shrimp; remove as soon as pink to avoid rubbery texture.
  • Simmer cream gently to prevent curdling and ensure a silky sauce.
  • Always use freshly grated Parmesan for better melting and richer flavor.
  • Reserve some pasta cooking water to thin the sauce if it becomes too thick.
