Description

A rich and comforting one-skillet dinner, this Creamy Garlic Parmesan Tortellini with Sausage and Broccoli combines cheesy tortellini, savory sausage, tender broccoli, and a velvety garlic cream sauce for the ultimate pasta night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (or turkey/chicken sausage)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 16 oz cheese tortellini
  • 2 cups broccoli florets, lightly cooked
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil. Cook tortellini according to package directions, adding broccoli florets in the last 2 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic for about 30 seconds. Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  4. Stir in heavy cream, parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  5. Return sausage to the skillet. Add cooked tortellini and broccoli, stirring gently to coat in the sauce.
  6. Turn off heat, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve hot with extra parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated parmesan for best melt and flavor.
  • Don’t boil the sauce after adding cheese—it may separate.
  • Reserve some pasta water in case you want to loosen the sauce.
