Description
A comforting side dish of creamy mashed potatoes combined with sweet peas, creating a perfect blend of rich flavors and textures.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Place the peeled and cubed potatoes in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
- While the potatoes are cooking, heat the peas in a separate saucepan with a little water until warmed through, about 3-5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them and return them to the pot. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher until smooth.
- Add the butter, heavy cream, and milk to the mashed potatoes. Stir until creamy and smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using).
- Gently fold in the cooked peas, mixing until evenly combined.
- Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley.
Notes
- For a lighter version, you can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or milk.
- Add grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor if desired.
- This dish pairs well with grilled meats or as a side to any hearty meal.
