Description

A rich and indulgent cookies and cream Oreo cake made with moist chocolate layers, Oreo buttercream, and crunchy cookie bits throughout.


Ingredients

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water or brewed coffee
  • 20 Oreo cookies, crushed (for the cake batter)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 23 tbsp milk or heavy cream (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 10 Oreo cookies, crushed finely (for frosting)
  • Additional Oreos for decorating (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  4. Slowly add hot water or coffee to the batter and mix well. Fold in 20 crushed Oreos.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the two pans and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cakes cool completely in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
  7. To make the frosting, beat butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk. Beat until fluffy.
  8. Fold in the finely crushed Oreos.
  9. Frost the cooled cake layers with the Oreo buttercream. Decorate with extra Oreos if desired.

Notes

  • Chilling the cake for 30 minutes before slicing helps it hold shape better.
  • Use a serrated knife to level cake layers if needed.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
