Ingredients
- All-Purpose Flour: 1 1/4 cups, heat-treated
- Unsalted Butter: 1/2 cup, softened
- Brown Sugar: 1/2 cup, packed
- Granulated Sugar: 1/4 cup
- Vanilla Extract: 2 teaspoons
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- Milk: 2 tablespoons
- Mini Chocolate Chips: 1 cup
- Chocolate Chips: 1 cup, for topping
- Heavy Cream: 2 tablespoons, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat Your Equipment: If heat-treating flour, spread it on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes, then cool completely.
- Combine Ingredients: Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy. Mix in vanilla and milk. Stir in cooled flour and salt until combined, then fold in mini chocolate chips.
- Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy lifting.
- Assemble the Dish: Press the cookie dough evenly into the lined pan, smoothing the top.
- Cook to Perfection: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips with heavy cream in short bursts, stirring until smooth. Spread over the dough.
- Finishing Touches: Chill the pan in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours until firm.
- Serve and Enjoy: Lift out using parchment, slice into squares with a warm knife, and serve chilled.
Notes
- Heat-Treated Flour: Do not skip this step for safety and a lightly toasty flavor.
- Clean Slices: Warm the knife under hot water and wipe between cuts.
- Flavor Boost: Sprinkle a little flaky sea salt on top before chilling.
- Chill Time: Longer chilling gives the fudgiest texture and neatest edges.
