Description

Chocolate Cobbler is a rich, decadent dessert featuring a gooey chocolate filling topped with a biscuit-like batter that bakes into a crisp, golden crust. This easy-to-make treat is perfect for chocolate lovers and pairs beautifully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (60g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups (360ml) boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch baking dish or casserole dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until combined.
  4. Slowly add flour, stirring until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and cocoa powder together, then sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
  7. Carefully pour boiling water over the top of the mixture (do not stir).
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is set and the filling is bubbly and gooey. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  9. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • For an extra treat, add chocolate chips to the batter before baking.
  • This dessert is best served warm, as the gooey chocolate filling is a highlight.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for longer storage.
