Classic chocolate chip cookies with a soft and chewy center, crispy edges, and rich chocolate chunks in every bite.

- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For chewier cookies, slightly underbake them and let them finish cooking on the hot tray.
- Use a mix of semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips for added flavor.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
