Description
This chocolate chip banana bread recipe creates a moist, tender loaf filled with melty chocolate chips, perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 3 medium/large ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 3/4 cups)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350˚F. Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Cream softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Mash bananas to a chunky applesauce consistency and stir in with vanilla extract.
- Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt separately, then fold into the wet mixture.
- Fold in 3/4 cup chocolate chips, reserving 1/4 cup for topping.
- Pour batter into the loaf pan, sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let bread rest for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas with lots of brown spots for the best flavor.
- If the bread browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking.
- Cool completely before slicing to retain moisture.
- For variation, add nuts or swirl in peanut butter or Nutella.
