Description
Juicy chicken meatballs coated in marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese, offering a healthier twist on traditional chicken parmesan.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, fresh parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- While the meatballs are baking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the marinara sauce and bring it to a simmer.
- Once the meatballs are done, transfer them to the skillet with marinara sauce. Spoon some sauce over each meatball and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Cover the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve the chicken parm meatballs hot with pasta, a side salad, or garlic bread.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
- You can use store-bought or homemade marinara sauce.
