Description

Juicy chicken meatballs coated in marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese, offering a healthier twist on traditional chicken parmesan.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, fresh parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the marinara sauce and bring it to a simmer.
  6. Once the meatballs are done, transfer them to the skillet with marinara sauce. Spoon some sauce over each meatball and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Cover the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve the chicken parm meatballs hot with pasta, a side salad, or garlic bread.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
  • You can use store-bought or homemade marinara sauce.
  • For extra flavor, top the meatballs with fresh basil after cooking.
