Description
Cheesy Spinach-Artichoke Bagels are a deliciously savory snack that blends creamy cheese, fresh spinach, and tender artichoke hearts inside a chewy bagel. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a flavorful snack, these baked bagels offer a comforting combination of melty cheeses and vibrant greens, ideal for casual gatherings or a quick bite.
Ingredients
Bagels
- Plain or everything bagels (4 bagels)
Vegetables
- Fresh spinach, finely chopped (2 cups)
- Artichoke hearts, drained and chopped (1 cup, canned or jarred)
Cheeses
- Cream cheese, softened (8 oz)
- Shredded mozzarella cheese (1 cup)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (1/2 cup)
Seasonings
- Garlic, minced or powdered (1-2 cloves fresh or 1/2 tsp powder)
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Prep the Spinach and Artichokes: Wash and finely chop the fresh spinach. Drain the artichoke hearts well and roughly chop them to ensure even distribution throughout the filling.
- Mix the Cheesy Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, chopped spinach, chopped artichokes, and minced garlic. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
- Hollow Out the Bagels: Slice each bagel horizontally in half. Carefully scoop out some of the bread from each half, creating a hollow cavity while leaving enough border to hold the filling securely.
- Stuff the Bagels: Generously fill each hollowed-out bagel half with the prepared spinach-artichoke cheese mixture. Press gently to pack the filling firmly inside.
- Bake to Perfection: Arrange the stuffed bagels on a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on top.
Notes
- Use fresh spinach and artichokes for the best texture and flavor.
- Don’t overstuff the bagels to prevent filling from spilling out during baking.
- Drain spinach and artichokes thoroughly to avoid soggy bagels.
- Lightly toast the bagels before stuffing for added crispiness.
- For a bubbly golden crust, broil the bagels for the last 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
