  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 10 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup sweet onion, diced
  • ¼ cup green pepper, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon dry mustard
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, pulse flour and salt until combined. Add butter and pulse until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  2. Mix egg yolk and water in a small bowl. Add to the processor and pulse until large clumps form. Do not overmix.
  3. Turn dough onto a floured surface, form into a disk, wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  4. Remove dough, roll it out to fit pie dish, and press into the plate. Trim and crimp the edges. Chill while making the filling.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  6. Add breadcrumbs, tomato sauce, onion, green pepper, garlic, salt, oregano, and pepper. Stir and cook for 1 minute. Spread mixture into the pie crust.
  7. In a bowl, beat milk and egg. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, dry mustard, and cheese. Pour evenly over the meat filling.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, or until crust and cheese are golden brown. Cover crust with foil if browning too fast.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
