Description

These Cheeseburger Loaded Fries are crispy, golden fries topped with a rich cheddar cheese sauce, seasoned ground beef, and fresh toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions. Finished with a tangy special sauce, they’re perfect for parties, game days, or a hearty dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (26 ounce) bag frozen fries (shoestring not recommended)
  • 12 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2/3 pound 85% lean ground beef
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/4 cup diced tomato
  • 1/4 cup chopped pickles
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • For the cheese sauce:
  • 5 ounces (about 2 cups) shredded cheddar cheese (freshly grated recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • For the special sauce:
  • 4 1/2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons honey
  • 3/4 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 3/4 teaspoon hot sauce (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to bake the fries according to package directions.
  2. Shred cheddar cheese and chop the vegetables (lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion).
  3. Place the fries in the oven and bake until golden and crispy.
  4. Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil, then ground beef. Break it into large chunks with a spatula.
  5. Season the beef with salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper. Continue cooking and breaking into smaller chunks until no longer pink. Cover and keep warm.
  6. For the special sauce, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, honey, yellow mustard, and hot sauce in a bowl. Chill until ready to serve.
  7. For the cheese sauce, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and whisk for one minute to form a roux.
  8. Gradually add 1/3 of the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Slowly add the remaining milk and yellow mustard, whisking until smooth.
  9. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese in increments, whisking until smooth and creamy.
  10. To assemble, place hot fries on a platter. Drizzle with cheese sauce, sprinkle with seasoned beef, and add fresh toppings.
  11. Finish with a drizzle of special sauce and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, bake fries on a wire rack set over a baking sheet.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter or vegetarian option.
  • Customize toppings with jalapeños, bacon bits, or avocado slices for added flavor.
  • Serve immediately to maintain the crisp texture of the fries.
