Description

Cheeseburger Egg Rolls combine all the delicious flavors of a classic cheeseburger—seasoned ground beef, melted sharp cheddar, tangy pickles, ketchup, and mustard—wrapped in a crispy golden egg roll shell. This fun and easy appetizer is perfect for parties, game day, or a cozy night in, ready in under 30 minutes and customizable to your taste and dietary needs.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (lean or regular)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 810 egg roll wrappers
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pickles
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooking oil, for frying (about 2 cups or enough for deep frying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat, then stir in the diced onions, ketchup, mustard, and season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  2. Assemble the egg rolls: Lay one egg roll wrapper flat. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture near the corner closest to you. Add a generous sprinkle of shredded cheddar and a few chopped pickles on top. Fold the corner over the filling, tuck in the sides, and roll tightly until fully sealed. Moisten the last corner with water to secure the seal.
  3. Fry until golden: Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet to medium-high (around 350°F or 175°C). Fry egg rolls in batches, turning occasionally, for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until crispy and golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Serve warm: Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces or sides for the ultimate appetizer experience.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill the wrappers to prevent tearing during rolling and frying.
  • Use cold water to moisten wrapper edges for a tight, leak-proof seal.
  • Maintain oil temperature around 350°F (175°C) for even cooking and crispy texture.
  • Drain beef filling well to avoid soggy egg rolls.
  • Keep egg roll wrappers covered with a damp towel to maintain pliability.
