Description

This Cheeseburger & Chips plate features juicy beef patties topped with melted cheddar, crisp lettuce, and red onion inside soft brioche buns, served alongside golden oven roasted thick cut chips. It is a classic comfort meal that is hearty, satisfying, and perfect for a homemade diner style dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 2 brioche burger buns
  • 2 cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 crisp lettuce leaves
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 large potatoes, cut into thick chips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Toss the cut potatoes with olive oil, half of the fine sea salt, and half of the black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Spread the potatoes in a single layer on the baking sheet and roast for 30 to 35 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crisp.
  4. Divide the ground beef into two equal portions and gently shape into patties without overworking the meat. Season both sides with the remaining salt and pepper.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium high heat and cook the patties for 3 to 4 minutes per side, depending on desired doneness.
  6. Place a cheddar cheese slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover briefly to melt.
  7. Lightly toast the brioche buns cut side down in a dry skillet for 1 to 2 minutes.
  8. Assemble the burgers by placing lettuce on the bottom bun, topping with the cheesy patty, adding sliced red onion, and closing with the top bun.
  9. Serve immediately with the hot roasted chips on the side.

Notes

  • Do not press down on the patties while cooking to keep them juicy.
  • Cut the potatoes evenly so the chips roast at the same rate.
  • Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet to ensure crisp chips.
  • Leftover patties can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
