Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease and line two 8 inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Gradually combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Beat softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and continue beating until fluffy to make the buttercream.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread a layer of buttercream on top, then place the second layer over it.
