Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1 3/4 cups Whole Milk
- 1/2 cup Salted Butter (1 stick), melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Place butter in an 8×8 baking dish and melt it in the oven.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Add milk to the dry ingredients and mix just until combined. The dough will be thick and lumpy.
- Pour the dough into the hot buttered dish and spread evenly. The butter will rise around the edges.
- Use a knife to cut the dough into 9 squares before baking.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown on top.
- Let cool slightly, then serve warm.
Notes
- Don’t overmix the dough—lumps are okay!
- Use buttermilk for a tangier, richer flavor.
- Try adding herbs or shredded cheese for variation.
