Description
These chewy Brown Sugar Amish Cookies are made with rich brown sugar and a touch of cinnamon, delivering a deliciously soft texture and warm flavor in every bite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- If using, fold in the rolled oats for extra texture.
- Drop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown, but the centers are still soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For chewier cookies, do not overbake them. They should look slightly undercooked in the center when you remove them from the oven.
- You can add chocolate chips or chopped nuts to the dough for variation.
- Store in an airtight container to keep them soft and fresh.
