- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Optional: crushed red pepper flakes for extra heat
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the shishito peppers to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, tossing occasionally, until the skins are blistered and charred in spots.
- Remove the peppers from the skillet and transfer to a serving plate.
- Season with salt and drizzle with lemon juice. Optionally, sprinkle with red pepper flakes for an added kick.
- Serve immediately as an appetizer or side dish.
Notes
- Shishito peppers are typically mild, but occasionally one will be spicy. If you’re unsure, you can taste one before serving to gauge its heat.
- For a different twist, sprinkle some sesame seeds or drizzle with soy sauce.
- If you prefer to cook them in the oven, roast at 450°F (232°C) for 10-12 minutes until blistered.
