- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, then shape into 6 patties.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear patties on both sides until browned, about 2–3 minutes per side.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and paprika.
- Transfer patties to a greased baking dish. Pour the sauce mixture over the patties, then scatter sliced mushrooms on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream to the sauce.
- This dish pairs beautifully with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice.
