Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 pound ground Italian sausage
- 1 jar red pepper jelly
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground Italian sausage until fully browned and cooked through. Drain excess grease and allow to cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, and grated cheddar cheese until evenly blended.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut each sheet into four equal squares.
- Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture in the center of each square and top with a small spoonful of red pepper jelly.
- Fold opposite corners toward the center to form a square packet and gently press edges to seal.
- Arrange foldovers on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Keep puff pastry cold until ready to use for best flakiness.
- Do not overfill the squares to prevent leaking during baking.
- For extra golden color, brush tops lightly with egg wash before baking.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350°F to restore crisp texture.
