Description

Golden flaky puff pastry squares filled with savory Italian sausage, creamy cheese, and a touch of sweet red pepper jelly. These crisp and buttery foldovers are perfect for parties, snacks, or an easy appetizer everyone will love.

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 1 jar red pepper jelly
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground Italian sausage until fully browned and cooked through. Drain excess grease and allow to cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, and grated cheddar cheese until evenly blended.
  4. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut each sheet into four equal squares.
  5. Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture in the center of each square and top with a small spoonful of red pepper jelly.
  6. Fold opposite corners toward the center to form a square packet and gently press edges to seal.
  7. Arrange foldovers on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  8. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

  • Keep puff pastry cold until ready to use for best flakiness.
  • Do not overfill the squares to prevent leaking during baking.
  • For extra golden color, brush tops lightly with egg wash before baking.
